Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I spoke to people from Moo recently at the Focus Imaging fair - they said they're currently trying to talk to DA so that they can go through DA with the cards like they already do with Flikr.

They're also updating their system so that the minicards have as much flexibility over the rear design as the regular sized cards.

How did you get your avatar on there? They don't offer that when you order through the site atm?

A cooperation between moo and deviantart would be fine. I used the flickr import, then the flickr avatar will be shown on the rear side.

Obviously the purpose is business cards if you look at the site. This would be great to set next to photos in a coffee shop or hand out, basically to get people interested enough to go online to your photo site. I would even use these for non-photo related business cards. That is, if you can justify the cost of 50 cents per card.
